Philosophy of The Suburban Wellness Protocol

Have you heard the buzz about The Suburban Wellness Protocol?  The prospect of leading a large group of women toward better health is VERY exciting!

If you have been eating poorly and struggling with time management and self-care, this is the program for you!  It is the only program I have seen to directly address the issues of the overwhelmed suburban woman.

I received multiple emails over the weekend asking me to outline my nutritional philosophy.  Here it is:

My approach to nutrition is based on a number of different dietary theories.  I use pieces of:

  • Ayurveda,
  • the Raw Food Diet,
  • the Weston A. Price Ancestral Diet,
  • the 90/10 theory (eat well 90% of the time and don't worry about the other 10%),
  • the South Beach Diet,
  • the Candida Diet (yeast-free diet) , and
  • the Paleo Diet  There are so many dietary theories out there but I have never seen one that works for all people.  So I created a hybrid.

There are so many dietary theories out there but I have never seen one that works for all people.  So I created a hybrid.

The Suburban Wellness Protocol is NOT extreme.  It does not involve harsh cleansing methods, juicing (unless you enjoy juicing), bowel cleansing, lemonade, or fasting.

That said, it does encourage you in the initial phase, which I call the 3-Week Challenge, to eliminate all sugar, grain & dairy from your diet and eat abundant complex carbs (especially greens, cruciferous vegs, beans, onions, mushrooms, etc), good fats like avocados, olives and nuts, and clean proteins including eggs, poultry, fish and meats.  The Protocol also allows a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of red wine with dinner.  I give abundant meal ideas and recipes.

After the 3-Week Challenge, you add some grains back into your diet if you wish as well as certain types of dairy, fruits, etc.

Many people have had great success with this program, even the ones who struggled with blood sugar issues, digestive problems, picky families, time crunch, etc.  If you read through some of the testimonials on my site and in the previous newsletter, you will see that the major difference between The Suburban Wellness Protocol and most other diets is that it is NOT a diet!  There is a food list, yes.  But you are encouraged to eat a lot of really delicious food!

If I could sum up the program in a couple of words, I would say it is a return to eating the way people did before the 1970's.  Since then we have become a country of poor quality, convenience foods.  And we are paying the price with our health.

Graduates of this program have reported that their bloodwork, blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. returns to a normal range.  They sleep better.  They are less controlled by cravings.  They break their addiction to caffeine.  They have more energy.
